Subject: Some ten days after the earthquake that devastated buildings in the San Francisco area on 17 October 1989, Bureau Veritas sent out its seismic engineering expert to examine structures which had been damaged or collapsed before rebuilding work began, in order to obtain technical information essential to the advance of earthquake resistance engineering.
