Subject: Three large scale surveys among the West German population were conducted in November/December 1986, May/June 1987 and May/June 1988 in order to analyze the long-term impacts of the Chernobyl disaster on opinions, attitudes and behavior of the public. Results indicate that uncertainty about the health consequences of the reactor accident is a major response of the population to the event.
