The 2001/2002 cyclone/storm season was slow to start and produced only three cyclones in the Queensland area. Heavy falls associated with Tropical Cyclone Bernie closed a number of unsealed roads. However, the wet season in genereal was very poor and resulted in rainfall shortages along the east coast of Queensland. The Minister for Emergency Services activated Natural Disaster Relief Arrangements (NDRA) for 3 events that impact 41 local governments.
