This report outlines the second stage of developing an evidenced based strategy for cyclone preparedness in Western Australia. The following report details the process and results of the second of a series of research projects carried out between 2004 -2006. The research is centred on the communities in Northwest and has been carried out by the Community Safety Division, FESA and the School of Psychology, Edith Cowan University (ECU). Community Engagement processes were examined in eleven townsites (Kununurra, Wyndham, Broome, Karratha, Derby, Port Hedland I South Hedland, Onslow, Wickham, Roebourne and Point Sampson) utilising an Action Research Methodology. In all nearly 100 resident interviews and nine 'feedback' workshops were held with FESA/SES units. A detailed results section containing the thematically analysed qualitative data is presented. In addition more detailed information on each region and townsite is located in the body of the report and appendices In addition this report presents the results of further statistical analysis of some of the Stage 1 data. Specifically, the data obtained from the telephone survey (N=813), which was administered across all townsites.
