Minimising property damage caused by flooding and erosion in Gowrie Creek was the aim of the Spring Street Sedimentation and Detention Basins, initiated by the Toowoomba City Council. The project is the first stage of the Gowrie Creek Catchment Management Strategy, which council is undertaking with community interest groups and state agencies. Council anticipates implementing an estimated $36 million of works and land acquisitions over the next 24 years.
