The Northern Territory Government made sure that full use was made of the lessons learnt from the Katherine Daly Flood in 1998. This was a major catastrophic event that impacted and inundated a wide area of land and engulfed townships and settlements in the Northern Territory. The Government's post-flood reponse included many initiatives to boost community safety and increase preparedness for similar disasters.
