Entrant : Safer Communities Awards 2000
Preventing fires and burns in the home through community education and awareness is the aim of Homesafe 2000 -- a professionally built interactive display of a two-room house which illustrates the 15 most common causes of house fires and burns. The display is an initiative of Craigieburn Fire Brigade in partnership with the Urban Land Corporation, who have provided space for Homesafe 2000 in their large display home exhibition centre at Roxburgh Park. Roxburgh Park is an ideal location for the project given the large numbers of new homebuyers visiting the display home exhibition every week, many of whom are young families from inner Melbourne with little knowledge of fire causation or consequence.
