Protecting the community and its values from the adverse effects of bushfire is the aim of the Albury Hume Bush Fire Risk Management Plan (BFRMP), a joint initiative of hte Hume Shire Council and Albury City Council. The plan goes beyond traditional fuel reduction and response strategies to encompass broader elements of prevention and response strategies to encompass broader elements of prevention and preparedness by communities. Covering such topics as risk management priorities and strategies, bushfire risks, as well as the land managers responsible for implementing the plan, the BFRMP is considered to be an integral component across all bushfire, emergency and inter-agency planning activites.
