Review: ANGLICARE Emergency Services? role in NSW involves providing support in the State Disaster Recovery (Human Services) Plan under that state?s Disaster Plan (DISPLAN). Disaster Recovery is the coordinated process of supporting disaster-affected communities in the reconstruction of physical infrastructure and restoration of emotional, social, economic and physical wellbeing. Local groups of trained volunteers - ANGLICARE Emergency Services Teams - play a vital role in delivering practical care and assistance to individuals and communities affected by disasters. Volunteers work within evacuation and recovery centres and also door-knock in affected communities to assist with the provision of accommodation, catering, clothing and personal support. The Operational Kits are designed to provide ANGLICARE Team Leaders with the information and equipment required to undertake their work in the community. Contents include: backpack for Team Leaders and waist bags for Team Members; clothing items to identify volunteers (tabard/hat etc); supplies of necessary information, forms and stationery; basic first aid, safety items, and personal care supplies; three CDs with team leader and operational paperwork, forms and resources; plus other items to assist volunteers in their roles. Local Teams are equipped to respond to major emergencies as activated. Volunteers are members of organised teams across the State, Regional and Local levels with Regional and Local Team Leaders and Deputies. This is about supporting the State response services, in metropolitan, remote and rural regions, in caring for individuals and communities affected by major emergencies including bushfires, floods, storms, drought and unexpected high-impact incidents.
