These volumes contain the abstracts from the poster, invited sessions, and oral presentations from the International Disaster Reduction Conference held in Davos, Switzerland on Ausgust 26 to September 1 2006. The presentations come from a variety of areas associated with emergency management, including government, science, business, civil society, international organisations, NGOs, and emergency management professionals. The conference took an integrated, multidisciplinary approach when addressing the different kinds of risks affecting society today. The IDRC Davos 2006 addressed a broad range of risks including those relating to pandemics and endemics; terrorism; climate change; and natural hazards. Risks of a technical, biological and chemical nature were also featured.
