Following a survey of ACT rural residences, all property owners in the ACT have been provided with a Corio standard rural address. The new system provides emergency service crews with basic navigation points to the gates of individual residencies in the region. The information is used by dispatchers, field crews and emergency planners to find the quickest route to a particular residency. It reduces the number of lives and properties put at risk. Another key outcome is the relationship forged between the rural residences survey group and emergency management officials.
