The development of these strategies and alliances has enabled the City of Melbourne, along with other authorities, to work with the community to manage the risks and ensure a safer community through a focus on preparedness. This has been demonstrated in activities organised by the City of Melbourne, including the emergency management planning activities for New Year's Eve and associated Y2K threats. The CDROM includes:film footage of emergency management personnel in action during emergencies in Victoria and during floods and fire in Melbourne City; 16 slides entitled "Community emergency risk management assessment: a municipal perspective"
