Review: In the aftermath of the 2004 Boxing Day Indian Ocean tsunami, there was a lot of giving to the victims of that disaster in various forms through goods or money, in different ways. Giving via websites and SMS was used. Alongside this were the issues to do with the relief and reconstruction, collaboration, accountability, and disaster mitigation. As a result of this, the conference was themed around how the tsunami has affected giving.
