Entrant : Safer Communities Awards 2004. National Winner - Voluntary Organisation Stream. Pre-Disaster Category.
A free safety program aimed at Year 11 school students as they are about to get driving licenses. With the support of local schools, both state and private, local area police command, local councils, and representatives of special vehicle groups, Rotary clubs run a series of road safety days over a 5 day period. This program is carried out in the Macarthur and Illawarra area in the south and south western fringe of Sydney, an area high incidence of youth deaths and injury from road accidents.
