Subject: On Sunday June 28, 1992, two earthquakes rumbled through Southern California. They were centred near the small desert community of Landers and near Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains. EQE dispatched teams of engineers to the epicental areas and surrounding regions the morning of the earthquake and follow-up teams were sent on succeeding days to gather further data on the performance of structures and lifeline systems. This report presents the observations of those teams together with preliminary data reported by the California Division of Mines and Geology, California Institute of Technology, the U.S. Geological Survey, the ASCE Technical Council on Lifeline Earthquake Engineering, Woodward-Clyde Consultants, and Southern California Edison
