The Towyn floods, which occurred in February 1990, required a high level of response, not just in terms of physical rescue but also regarding long-term psychological and social issues. This video training package considers the disaster in terms of the support required by the victims. It draws on the experiences of the members of the police, fire service, local authorities and voluntary organisations as well as the victims themselves. Subjects covered include: the on-going social response; management (including financial issues); environmental aspects; rest centre operation; and other topics such as information, the media and rumour control. The North Wales (Towyn) floods involved responses over a long period of time ( some support is still on-going) and many of the issues discussed will apply to a wide range of disasters
