Living safely in bush fire prone areas

Contributor(s): Material type: TextTextSubject(s): Summary: With an ever-increasing population within the rural areas of the Busselton Shire due to sub-divisional dvelopments, in May 2007 the Council's Emergency Risk Management Plan identified the western area of the local government region as being at high risk of bush fire that could potentially destroy or cause substancial damage to properties and serious injury or loss of life. As a result, a range of treatment options were identified and implemented to assist the community in preventing and preparing for bush fires. Seeing an increase in fire hazards across the region the Shire launched a range of strategies in 2008.
