Recently, large scale international assistance has been proposed for the development of the Mekong Basin, especially in water resources utilization. The proceedings of the AP FRIEND workshop presents a compilation of range of modeling studies on the Mekong Basin. How do we model large catchments, how can we incorporate land use changes as a dynamic process linked to water resources, what techniques can we use to derive physical catchment characteristics, what different types of models are required for modeling diverse hydrological processes, what are the difficulties in studying the Mekong Basin? In these proceedings, such questions are raised and tackled
