Summary: Providing appropriate timely emergency care to geographically remote populations is challenging and complex. Ambulance Victoria had developed a comprehensive and innovative Emergency Care Update Training Program for Victorian Remote Area Nurses which has enabled the expansion of their emergency management skills and further develop and integration of this important group of healthcare professionsals into the emergency management system. By utilising local resource and infrastructure small and remote communities have been provided with a sustainable emergency care capability that would otherwise be unavailable.
