The purpose of this guideline document is to provide information and guidance on Australian quarantine requirements associated with Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) taskforces responding to a disaster in Australia. The guidelines provide information to Australian USAR Taskforces deployed overseas and international USAR taskforces entering Australia to assist in a natural disaster. AQIS conducts inspections of equipment and personnel deployed on return from offshore USAR operations and when USAR Taskforces are entering Australia, prior to deployment to ensure that no pests or disease enter Australia as a result of search and rescue operations.
