This report aims to identify the various logistical functions before, during and after a natural disaster. It uses selected case studies to identify the deficiencies associated with previous natural disasters and identifies concerns from various members of the emergency society from a questionnaire and interviews. The classic case studies include the Black Tuesday bushfires in Tasmania, the Australiia Day weekend flood in Brisbane, Cyclone Tracy in Darwin, the Ash Wednesay bushfires in Victoria, the Newcastle Earthquake in New South Wales, the Nyngan Floods in New South Wales and the stomrs in Sydney northern suburbs.
