Summary: Commonwealth and State Ministers met in Canberra to discuss the new organisation and agreed that they would work towards the improvement of methods for co-ordinating measures to plan for and cope with natural disasters. The headquarters of the Natural Disasters Organisation, through its National Emergency Operations Centre, would provide a focal pointfor the co-ordination of national effort and would ensure that States received the full support of the Australian Government.
