Subject: The purpose of this paper is to assist water utilities in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to develop emergency contingency plans to deal with the effects of natural and man-made disasters to water and wastewater facilities. It is universally recognised that in the aftermath of a disaster it is essential that water supply and sanitation systems are operational as soon as possible to minimise the outbreak of disease that may exacerbate a disaster
