This 12 month project set out to undertake a needs assessment, and establish a framework for disaster preparedness for significant cultural material in bushfire prone areas. It aimed it's focus on cultural material in private hands, especially items of local, national and international significance. During the course of the project, informed by the experiences of people directly affected by the 2002-2003 bushfires, it became apparent that the project aims and the outputs could be just as readily applied to more everyday items of memorabilia and material of personal or sentimental value.
