Review: A field survey to examine the size and impact of the marine inundation resulting from category 5 TC Chris was undertaken several days after the cyclone made landfall on the 6th February 2002. Chris produced a 4.2 metre inundation which eroded foredunes and surged inland for over 100m from the shore. Both the location and the height of the surge, as determined from debris lines in the field, agree with the estimates from the GCOM2D surge model.
