Information technology has gone through incrediblke growth and prompted great change int he past decade, and is in the process of becoming a critical infrastructure in developed countries, if not already. Like most tools, the benefits of information technology do not come without inherent risks. This paper aimed to research and review both the benefits and risks associated with the rapid ascent of information technology into modern New Zealand society, and the positive and negative implications this change has on emergency management in New Zealand.
