This project was designed in response to indications from the Public Administration Industry Training Council (PAITC) Police, Fire and Emergency Services Sector Standing Subcommittee that literacy needs among volunteers may be a significant issue for the effective delivery of training. The project aims to identify the extent of literacy training needs among volunteers, and make recommendations for learning strategies to effectively address those needs. Volunteer organisations involved were the Bush Fires Service of WA, the Western Australian State Emergency Service and the Fire and Rescue Service of WA
