This report summarises progress made in the second year of a project that examines the impact of tropical cyclone storm surges on the Cairns region. The storm surge, a dome of water pushed ahead of a cyclone by strong winds, is one of the most damaging aspects of tropical cyclones. They have the potential to affect seriously this important Queensland tourist destination, and therefore it is necessary that their impacts are determined correctly
