Subject: The Newcastle Region Library has assembled an enormous collection of published and unpublished materials in various formats relating to the Newcastle Earthquake in 1989. These resources are requested by a variety of users both nationally and internationally. The Newcastle Earthquake Database was established as a project to enable these resources to be available electronically, thereby making it readily accessible to all users irrespective of their geographical location. The information included on the CD ROM comprises of short reports, conference papers, anecdotes, newspaper articles, pamphlets, photographs, and excerpts of audio and video recordings. Information is retrievable by keyword, subject or format type from a database of resources specially selected and identified for school students.
