India is a major natural disaster prone country due to its ecological and geographical features. Humanity is too small in front of nature and with our limitations, we cannot prevent natural disaster completely. But with the help of technological knowhow, the process can be brought to a manageable limit. Natural disaster management is an extension of development processes in order to mitigate the adverse effect on the community by a natural disaster. It is an action programme to develop a considerable degree of preparedness in society, particularly of the student and youth to manage the impact of disasters. Capacity building of a community is an important part of disaster reduction strategy, as well-informed community can meet the challenges of disaster more effectively. It is strongly felt that there is a need to develop measures for the assessment, prediction, prevention and mitigation of natural disasters through technology transfer, demonstration projects and education and training
