This report makes 12 recommendations on what needs to be done to establish an improved system for torrential rain and flooding in Mauritius. The public demand for better torrential rain and flood warning systems is likely to increase in Mauritius as the exposure of private and public property, public infrastructure and people to floods grows, as it is set to do. This is not a new problem. It is already one that has presented itself and is being addressed through a variety of carefully developed strategies in the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Italy, Australia and a number of countries located in tropical zones
