Workshop on Ulawun Decade Volcano, Papua New Guinea
This report is a presentation of the main discussions, outcomes, and recommendations of the Ulawun Decade Volcano Workshop. Ulawun was used as an example for general consideration of volcanic cone collapses, thus allowing the discussions to be placed in both a southwest Pacific and global context. The recommendations presented here range from required scientific studies, through volcano-monitoring proposals, to practical emergency management measures of local, national and regional scope. The workshop report also includes information on volcanic hazards and alert systems that have wide applications. The report contains 25 recommendations concerning volcanic activity, volcanic cone collapses, and tsunamis in West New Britain Province and in the southwest Pacific in general
