The research paper presented in the attachment involves the application of wind tunnel and fluid mapping tests for assessing different generic building forms subject to ember attack. The research program is designed to explore the relationship between the urban and bushland interface, with particular reference to air pressure, changes in wind pattern and velocity, and the build up of hot ash and fire-brand deposits adjacent to combustible surfaces. The aim of the program is to support regional centres in devising design strategies which assist in protecting life, property and the urban fringe threatened by bushfire.
