Entrant : Safer Communities Awards 2003
The development of an Emergency Response Plan for the Adelaide City Council has been a rewarding experience which has had the input from all key staff across the Council. In line with our strategic directions of Capacity, Audacity and Vivacity, the primary objective of the ERP is to ensure that we are "disaster ready" through implementing effective preparation, response and recovery procedures. It provides the structure and a process for the strategic management and coordination of emergencies that may have the liklihood or the ability to impact the community and the Council as a whole. The ERP addresses the Council's role and responsibilities in State emergencies in accordance with the State Disaster Act 1980.
