The measures proposed by Daly River will allow a purpose built facility to be utilised by people from outside the area who have been evacuated in the face of a natural disaster such as fire or flood. Although Daly River is considered a remote area, it contains sufficient services to accommodate large groups of people for short periods. It is connected to other areas by a fully sealed highway, has regular transport with main communities such as Darwin, has health services, airport and is attractive to evacuees, especially indigenous people.
