Entrant : Safer Communities Awards 2002
The deployment of NSW Health Disaster Medical Teams supported by the Ambulance Service of New South Wales (ASNSW) to fire affected areas had a significant impact on the local community. This strategy of deployment was part of a staged approach focused on those vulnerable sections of the community, including the remote, isolated, elderly - and holiday goers on the South Coast.
