Entrant : Safer Communities Awards 2002
A genuine illustration of "community centred emergency management", the FESA Unit concept was initiated by the volunteer members of the Halls Creek SES and the Halls Creek BFB. The volunteers recognised that they could better utilise the resources of the community and provide a more efficient and effective emergency service by amalgamating the SES Unit and the BFB into one FESA Unit.
