Entrant : Safer Communities Awards 2002
The community radio, which is locally based, broadcasts 24 hours a day to a large section of North Eastern Victoria. It has a wide listening audience, particularly amongst local residents. By providing a medium for broadcasting timely and factual emergency and general safety messages the project significantly contributes towards community awareness at present and will continue to do so in the future. By providing real time warnings with messages authorised by appropriate emergency services, it means that appropriate information can be tailored to meet the local community needs.
