This video deals with the impact of disasters on victims. In addition to physical harm, disasters may produce serious psychological disturbances and stress reactions both during and after the crisis. Generally, disasters contain a series of seven distinct phases: warning, alarm, impact, inventory, rescue, recovery and reconstruction. The information contained in this video will assist emergency personnel in understanding the key psychological aspects of disasters, assessing the psychological state and needs of disaster victims, intervening in the crisis situation in a manner which will reduce the negative psychological impact of the event
