Subject: On 7th February 2009 two fires quickly convereged and raced towards the town of Peats Ridge. An incident management team (IMT) had been established at the local Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) at Kariong. Communication with local media outlets and community groups in advance of any incidents ensured that a vital link had been established. Over the following 3 days vounteers from the Community Engagement Group were supported by full time staff to facilitate the dissemination of information.
