Subject: Chapters 1 to 3 of this report are introductory, setting out the social, economic, institutional and environmental contexts, and chapter 4 describes what happened at the oil spill itself. Chapter 5 explains briefly the principles and methods used in the impact assessment work. Chapters 6 to 13 describe the work which has been done, beginning with the movement of the spilled oil in the sea, and going on to survey the effects found among different habitats and species. Chapter 14 reflects on the overall character of the ecological effects of the oil spill. Chapter 15 describes the work and conclusions on the wider part of the remit, namely the lessons which can be learned from the experience of the Braer to inform responses to future spills
