Great Britain during the 1980s was affected by eight major disasters, in which 556 people lost their lives and in which hundreds more were either injured or affected by the loss of their loved ones. All of these tragedies contain legal consequences of some form or another, and the purpose of this study is to examine some of the social and legal implications of the main tragedies in this country during the years 1980 to 1989
