Subject: This reponse to the Senate Committee's report is in two parts: an overview followed by detailed responses to specific recommendations. The majority of the recommendations of the report are endorsed by the Government although many will require the cooperation of the States and Territories. Where appropriate, follow-up action will be pursued with the States and Territories on a bilateral and collective basis thorugh existing arrangements coordinated by Emergency Management Australia
