The goal of the Getty Seismic Adobe Project is to develop technical procedures for improving the seismic performance of historic adobe structures that have a minimal impact on the historic fabric of these buildings. GSAP focuses on the Spanish Colonial Missions and historic adobes in seismic areas of the Southwestern region of the United States. The principal efforts during the second year of the GSAP were devoted to the development of a general guide for planning seismic retrofits on historic adobe buildings and shaking table tests
