"A technical contribution of Spain to the International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction (IDNDR), sponsored by the Spanish Technical Commission for IDNDR" --Cover
In 1992, 107 violent natural disasters with 10 or more dead and/or missing persons each caused 12922 casualities and left at least 2119482 people homeless worldwide. Minimum estimated economic losses resulting from natural disasters amount to 54108 million US dollars, ie 0.28% of the World Gross Product. Although the number of casualties is much lower than in 1991 and 1990, the economic losses have continued on an upward trend, especially insured losses. As in 1990 and 1991, Asia was the worst hit continent, followed by America, Africa and Europe
