The NSW Disaster Victim Identification Procedures Manual has been produced through the cooperation of the NSW Police Service, NSW State Coroner's Office, NSW Institute of Forensic Medicine and other allied services. This manual is based upon INTERPOL's disaster victim identification procedures, the national guidelines, which have been adopted through the formation of the National DVI Committee, and the Victorian DVI Procedures Manual. It sets out the role and responsibilities of NSW Police, the NSW Institute of Forensic Medicine and support agencies that will enable effective response to an event requiring the implementation of the Disaster Victim Identification process
