Draft final report
An exotic animal disease outbreak would be a catastrophic event for Australia, particularly if it affected exports. The long term freedom from a major event coupled with the wind down in the BTEC effort has created uncertainty as to what level of preparednes should be maintained. This raises the question of whether or not resources in this country would be adequate to successfully handle even a moderate exotic disease outbreak should it occur
