Subject: On 18 March 1990 a violent hailstorm affected the Sydney metropolitan area. The storm produced large hail in a swathe at least 45 km long and up to 10 km wide. The insurance payout was 313 million dollars, making it the most expensive thunderstorm event on record in Australia.
