Subject: On the 10th July, 1962 a low loader and trailer weighing 28 tons, caused the structure of Kings Bridge to collapse, sagging approximately 1 foot. The Commission examined the causes of this collapse, finding that the fabricator of the bridge was unfamiliar with the welding of low-alloy steel, there was insufficient inspection of the structure, and sub-standard steel was used
