Subject: The bushfire disasters in South Australia and Victoria, which occurred over the period 16-19th February 1983, were marked by very high and sustained levels of international telephone traffic to Adelaide and Melbourne. The use of effective Network Management strategies enabled a significant 70% increase in Australian terminating traffic to be carried during the 4-day bushfire period - without the provision of additional network capacity
